Two terrorists killed, two held with arms

Official sources told Kashmir Reader that one more dead body of an unidentified militant was recovered from the debris taking toll of militants killed in the encounter to three. Till now, the police have recovered two bodies of militants and are conducting investigations in order to ascertain their identities. Commenting on the matter, a J&K Police spokesperson said that the CRPF jawan was injured in a gun battle at Balhama area of Khonmoh.

Two terrorists killed in an encounter on the outskirts of Srinagar with the security forces on Thursday, belonged to an Islamic State (IS) affiliated group.

Police said that the bodies of two slain militants were handed over to their families for last rites.

Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of the slain militants at their native places today.

Meanwhile, a shutdown is being observed in Aghanzpora and adjoining villages of Awantipora. Constable Bilal Ahmad, the PSO, received a bullet injury in the process.

The militants had taken refuge in the houses in the area after their attempt to attack a BJP leader Dr Anwar Khan was foiled by his security guards yesterday afternoon.

Soon army, CRPF, and SOG rushed to the spot and cordoned off the entire area as they intensified the searches, the militants hiding in the area fired upon joint team ensuing a gunfight.
