Tom Brady shared a tribute to Danny Amendola’s Patriots career

The fact that Amendola was actually available was a bit of a surprise considering he's twice taken less money to stay with New England.

Danny Amendola is taking his crunch-time talents to South Beach, NFL Network's Dan Hellie first reported Tuesday, continuing what has been another truly confounding offseason in Miami. The short answer is not much. He handled 27 of New England's punt returns last season, contributing 231 return yards, which averages out to 8.6 yards per return. They also still have Brandin Cooks and Chris Hogan on the outside, as well as Phillip Dorsett and Kenny Britt. Aside from maybe a late-round pick or an undrafted free agent just to have another body around, the Patriots should be set at the position. Keep an eye on McCarron, though. After a year-plus on practice squads in Dallas and Philadelphia, he got his chance with the Rams in '09. Amendola was also instrumental on special teams as a kick returner for the team.

He became one of Tom Brady's most dependable targets after Julian Edelman was lost for the season with a knee injury.

Brady posted this heartfelt goodbye message to Amendola, a good friend and teammate of his, on his Instagram account. This is something that can not be replaced and may be the one thing the Patriots will miss, along with his leadership in the locker room.
