Pochettino refuses to rule Harry Kane out of Chelsea clash

Tottenham Hotspur can take a giant stride towards Champions League qualification by beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Kane picked up the ankle injury in Spurs win over Bournemouth just before the global break.

"He is doing well and improving every day", Pochettino told a news conference.

"I think it's hard now to say yes or no, to be involved or not in the game".

The British press soon speculated about the striker's injury and said he would not return in time for the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation, which kicks off on June 14.

Kane was expected to return to first-team training early April, with a view to being reintroduced on the pitch against Manchester City on 14 April 14, though Pochettino seems to have suggested the England worldwide could be featuring much earlier.

"We are so happy because, after Bournemouth, everyone believed that maybe it would be a long period out".

Pochettino also commented on Toby Alderweireld's fitness: "Like always, with the squad, we need to decide first of all the starting XI and then the players that will on the bench".

Pochettino is expecting a passionate contest and said: "I think, to compare with Arsenal, I think it is similar".

"When you play this type of game, the pressure is for both teams".

"To win in Chelsea would be fantastic for everyone".

"Of course, there are still a lot of games to play".

Kane has enjoyed an incredible run of goalscoring form against Tottenham's London rivals - scoring 23 goals in 34 games.

"With Dele my relationship is always very good, like all the players here in Tottenham", he said.

With that in mind, here's how we at HITC Sport suspect Tottenham could look, with three changes - Hugo Lloris (Michel Vorm), Mousa Dembele (Moussa Sissoko) and Dele Alli (Lucas Moura) - introduced from their 3-0 FA Cup victory at Swansea City.

On his side's dismal record at Chelsea - Kane was not even born when Tottenham last won there in 1990 - Pochettino added: "I think it is not a point to be focused on for us".
