At one point, a source told CP24 that one of the four candidates had requested a recount of the votes but that the request did not come from the Ford camp.

"Yesterday, following the tabulation of ballots, a challenge regarding allocation of electoral votes was heard by the Appeals Board and the issue was extensively investigated by the Chief Electoral Officer and the election team", Lefton said.

Ontario PC Party leadership election committee chairman Hartley Lefton told the crowd that there was a dispute involving ballots in the leadership vote, which throws the outcome of the leadership race in limbo.

He reversed course earlier this year and announced his candidacy for the Progressive Conservative leadership in a news conference held in the basement of his mother's west Toronto home, becoming the first competitor to jump into the race.

He also vowed to boost healthcare spending and end "hallway healthcare" in the province's hospitals.

Ford has abandoned a pre-election programs offered by the former head of the progressive conservative Patrick brown, but is ready to develop its centered on whether to cancel or at least significantly reduce the current school curriculum for sex education.

However, Elliott's statement Sunday night included a reiteration of her dedication to the party.

Thousands of party faithful gathered at the Hilton Convention Centre in Markham Saturday afternoon hoping to anoint the leader to carry them into the upcoming provincial elections. "There's some sort of mischief afoot", she said.

The electronic votes were printed out on paper ballots, which were run through counting machines.

The party said it was aware of those concerns and twice pushed back the deadline for party members to register for the vote.

"To the people of Ontario, I say, 'Relief is on its way.' And to Kathleen Wynne I say, 'Your days as premier are numbered'".

"Quite frankly, it actually doesn't matter which of the candidates was chosen last night because if we look at the platform that they were ostensibly running on, there were billions of dollars of cuts that were coming forward", Wynne said when asked about the leadership vote at the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation's annual general meeting.

The 44-day long leadership race had been prompted reportedly by the January resignation of former leader Patrick Brown following allegations of sexual misconduct made by two women.

Like numerous events that have followed Mr. "I've said it before and I'll say it again: Ontario will be open for business". "That's unheard of in the midst of a leadership campaign", Fedeli said.

"That is why I entered this race", Elliott said.
