Luxurious new Range Rover SV Coupé revealed

Luxurious new Range Rover SV Coupé revealed

The new four-seater uses the same classic Range Rover design but has a tapered tail-end where you'd normally see the back doors.

Seemingly based on the full-size Range Rover platform, the coupe lops off the rear passenger doors and smooths out the bodywork, creating a new two-row, four-seat layout.

Moving inside we'll be greeted by semi-aniline leather front seats with gradated diamond quilt design - and clients have the option to tailor the SV Coupe to their exact specification, choosing from another round of four contrast interior colors and a range of single-tone interiors. It produces 565 PS and 700 of torque, enough for a 60 miles per hour sprint of just 5 seconds and a 165 miles per hour (266 kph) top speed. Land Rover will be expecting all 999 buyers to dig deep for personalisation.

"The Range Rover SV Coupe is a celebration of the Range Rover bloodline", said Gerry McGovern, Chief Design Officer of Land Rover. There is historical precedent for this limited-edition offering, though; the first Range Rovers were offered with two doors (or three doors, depending on what you consider the rear hatch) from the very start. It gets the Land Rover media system and a 1,700-watt Meridian premium audio system.

As if Land Rover needed to add "value" to the new Range Rover SV Coupe, it will be offered with an optional Care Package that covers service and maintenance for five years. The SV Coupe is available with a new Nautica veneer that blends walnut and sycamore woods. However, if you are interested in one, you should act fast. There's a 10-inch touchscreen that handles infotainment duties, a 10-inch screen for climate and vehicle settings, a 10-inch color head-up display and a 12-inch configurable gauge display.

Gas mileage (if you have to ask, you can't afford it) is estimated by Land Rover at 14/19/16 mpg city/highway/combined, so you'll appreciate the 27.4-gallon fuel tank.

Here, appropriately enough in a ghostly white "Liquesence" finish, is the most flawless Range Rover you have yet seen. The SV Coupe hits 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Just 999 SV Coupes will be built with a price tag of around $295,000. Land Rover says the 557-horsepower, supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 putting out 516 pounds-feet of torque will motivate the SV Coupe from zero-to-60 miles per hour in 5.0 seconds; it will top out at 165 miles per hour.

An 8-speed automatic transmission delivers the power to a permanent 4-wheel drive with a 2-speed transfer case and an Active Locking Rear Differential.

Range Rover also says the air suspension has been tuned for a "more driver-focused edge" and has been lowered by eight millimetres compared with the four door.
