Joel Embiid: Won't return Wednesday

Sixers star Joel Embiid exited in the second quarter of last night's win over the Knicks after a collision with Markelle Fultz.

Embiid was ruled out for the rest of the Sixers' 118-101 victory with a facial contusion.

Right now, the Philadelphia 76ers are the team no one is going to want to face in the playoffs, as they are arguably one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference, riding a seven-game winning streak heading into Wednesday's game against the New York Knicks.

The 24-year-old was taken to a local hospital for additional tests.

The former number three overall pick took to Instagram whilst lying in a hospital bed, posting a story captioned "not good".

Pompey added Embiid won't travel with the 76ers during their two-game road trip against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday and Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.

Fultz was driving toward the basket 20 seconds into the period when he appeared to accidentally head-butt Embiid.

Fultz showed his support for his teammate shortly after on Twitter. The 7-footer immediately went to the floor. Entering Wednesday, Embiid averaged 23.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 blocks in 30.7 minutes per game, playing on the average just over five minutes more than he did as a rookie.

"I was scared", Philadelphia's Dario Saric said of seeing Embiid crumble to the court. "All I can do is pray for him".
