Jimmy Kimmel Slams Donald Trump Again for Oscars Ratings Tweet

Fans have been patting the back of Jimmy Kimmel for standing up to the US President Donald Trump for called Oscars "lowest-rated Oscars in the history".

"Trump always has a problem with the Academy Awards, which is surprising because I really think he would love the best picture victor, 'The Shape of Water, '" Kimmel, who hosted the Oscars, joked. Ratings have been steadily dropping since 2014 when the Academy Awards ceremony garnered 43.7 million viewers.

Sunday's broadcast included a few barbs that host Jimmy Kimmel directed at the White House.

"Problem is, we don't have Stars anymore - except your President (just kidding, of course)!" the president added. Trump - who has an aversion to Hollywood and its "elitism", despite rubbing elbows with the entertainment industry for the past three decades - tweeted his take on the matter: "Lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY".

Kimmel's joke came hours after adult film star Stormy Daniels sued Trump claiming the non-disclosure agreement they reached after their alleged affair is not valid because Trump never signed it.

He continued, "Trump loves saying the ratings are down to insinuate that is a show of some kind of support for him".

President Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to mock the record-low TV ratings for the Oscars.

Where there's a big TV event, there are TV ratings to discuss, and where there are TV ratings to discuss, there's likely a Donald Trump tweet about them in the mix.

"Trump always has a problem with the Academy Awards, which is surprising because I really think he would love the best picture victor, 'The Shape of Water, '" he quipped.

"Basically, it's like his life's story", he joked of Trump.
