In an emotional farewell speech, Tillerson warns Russian Federation and snubs Trump

President Donald Trump's pick to head the CIA, Gina Haspel, would be the first female director of the intelligence agency if confirmed. Trump offered no explanation for the change. We're always on the same wavelength.

"I think that once Trump made the decision to take on what may be the biggest superpower summit since the Cold War", Kazianis says, "he also realized that he's going to want around him a team that he knows he can trust".

In announcing the reshuffle, Trump lavished praise on Pompeo, a former USA army officer and congressman who led the Central Intelligence Agency for almost 14 months, calling him "the right person for the job at this critical juncture".

"I very much appreciate his (Tillerson's) commitment and his service and I wish him well. Abe and Trump have a close relationship, so it's no problem", a source close to Abe said.

"We have a very good relationship for whatever reason, chemistry, whatever it is - why do people get along?" "Tillerson is a good man who was dealt a bad hand & he did not play it particularly well", tweeted Dent, who has in the past been critical of Trump.

Speaking with reporters during an impromptu press conference on the White House lawn before leaving for a planned trip to California, Trump commented frankly on differences of opinion with Tillerson, specifically citing how to approach the Iran nuclear deal.

Trump announced earlier that he had fired Tillerson, replacing his top diplomat ahead of a potential high-stakes sitdown between the President and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The president frequently complained to his West Wing advisers about Tillerson, and Tillerson once reportedly called Trump a "moron" behind his back. Trump later challenged him to an IQ test, prompting further speculations. "He went on to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives with a proven record of working across the aisle".

When Tillerson didn't step aside, Trump fired him, that official said.

John McEntee, the president's personal assistant, also lost his job and was escorted out of the White House on Monday, reportedly over an issue with his security clearance.

This story is still developing and will be updated when more information becomes available.

Trump and Tillerson have had numerous disagreements over serious policy issues ― Iran, Israel, Middle East peace, North Korea, steel tariffs, expansion of nuclear missile forces ― but the one that appears to have cost him his job was Russian Federation. "I think hopefully the entire organization learned something from the so-called enhanced interrogation program..." I guess he thought it was okay.

He spoke on Tuesday of his desire to break the deal, but noted that Mr Tillerson "felt a little bit differently, so we were not really thinking the same". A spokesman for Tillerson said the secretary of state "had every intention of staying" in his job and was "unaware of the reason" for his firing.

The remarks have sparked worries. Among the six Under Secretary roles, four have been vacant, a fifth now is open with Goldstein's firing, and the sixth is filled by career diplomat Tom Shannon, who announced last month he is retiring.

For months the president has publicly expressed displeasure and disagreement with his own secretary of state.
