Collin Sexton's coast-to-coast drive preserves Alabama's hopes of an NCAA bid

Collin Sexton's coast-to-coast drive preserves Alabama's hopes of an NCAA bid

Maybe the entire world.

Collin Sexton scored 21 of those second-half points, almost outscoring the Tigers all by himself. The Selection Show will be televised on TBS and will begin at 5:00 p.m.

And when June rolls around, Sexton might still be ahead of Young when it comes time for the National Basketball Association draft.

It involved Alabama strength coach Lou Deneen.

"Coach (Avery Johnson) just told me to race it up the floor to get to the basket", Sexton said.

Alabama now advances to Friday's quarterfinals where the team will face No. 1 Auburn.

Alabama is probably in, and some fellow bubble dweller (Louisville, Notre Dame, Oklahoma?) is now probably out.

Many bracketologists already had Alabama as one of the last four teams into the NCAA Tournament before this game.

He hit a 3-pointer 75 seconds after intermission. It didn't matter that Alabama was down 10 at halftime; didn't matter that two of its big men (Daniel Giddens and Alex Reese) were knocked out early with injuries; didn't matter that the rest of his teammates were seemingly out of it, a combined 0-for-9 on 3s. Auburn and its leader looked shell-shocked after the 81-63 loss.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will take on the Auburn Tigers in one of the SEC Tournament games on Friday, start time at 1:00 PM ET, at Scottrade center, St Louis, MO.

But he wasn't done there. "Something we can learn from is that the game's not over until the buzzer goes off". "When they made their run, I could just see that it bothered us more than it should have". "I typically have found that it's not until the third game that fatigue becomes a factor".

That speed, that ability to attack with Sexton at the helm, might be the formula for an Alabama run in the postseason.

- 17 turnovers are too much for any team. For most of the season, the Tide significantly underachieved. The 63 points mark the fewest Auburn has scored in a game this season (previously 66 in a February 24 loss at Florida), and the 18-point margin of defeat marks the team's largest since a 14-point loss to Temple on November 17). Alabama's surge put the Tigers away early in the half, and the Crimson Tide (19-14) outscored Auburn 50-22 after the break. But being west of the Mississippi River has restored his accuracy. He finished with a game-high 31 on 10 of 16 shooting (6 of 8 from 3) a day after hitting the game-winning shot at the buzzer to beat Texas A&M. "If we're having fun, we're going to make shots".

"This speaks to the character and core of our team", Johnson said afterward.

Said junior reserve guard Lawson Schaffer: "The rims look like the ocean when he's going".
