Browns ship DeShone Kizer to the Packers

The Cleveland Browns are cashing in on many of their trade chips.

The Green Bay Packers announced Friday evening that cornerback Damarious Randall will be traded to the Cleveland Browns. ESPN's Adam Schefter noted the teams are also swapping fourth- and fifth-round draft picks.

The Browns aren't done making moves on the last Friday of the league year.

Plus, the Browns still have draft picks, including the No. 1 pick.

Giving up Kizer makes sense considering that Cleveland acquired Pro Bowl quarterback Tyrod Taylor from Buffalo earlier in the day. He threw for 47 touchdowns, just 19 interceptions and over 5,800 yards in two seasons with Notre Dame in 2015 and 2016.

He played in and started 15 games with the Browns as a rookie, completing 53.6 percent of his passes and throwing for 2,894 yards and 11 touchdowns. It didn't help that he was constantly under pressure, being sacked 38 times.

As long as Aaron Rodgers is healthy, Kizer won't see the field in Green Bay.

Meanwhile, the addition of Randall gives the Browns a proven defensive back that could help further stabilize their young secondary alongside cornerbacks Jason McCourty and Jamar Brown, as well as safeties Jabril Peppers and Derrick Kindred. Learning from one of the greatest passers to ever play should pay dividends for the 22-year-old. For Kizer, it will be nice to get a fresh start.
