Terrorists attack army camp in Jammu and Kashmir

February 3: Two civilians and three CRPF personnel were injured on Saturday in a grenade attack by terrorists on a patrol party of the security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the involvement of Rohingyas could not be ruled out in Sunjwan terror attack because these foreign immigrants had been declared as "ticking time bombs" by the intelligence agencies. The Army Chief has briefed Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman about the incident.

Director general of J&K Police, Shesh Paul Vaid, confirmed that the militants entered the military station from the rear side where family quarters are located.

- The attack was launched before the daylight, with reports claiming that first suspicious movements were noticed at 4:55 am.

Mehbooba Mufti paid rich tributes to the slain Army personnel, praised their valour and sympathised with the bereaved families of soldiers.

Soon after the attack, reinforcements of the Army s special forces and SOG rushed to the spot and cordoned off the whole area amid a fierce gunfight, security official said. She also wished the injured soldiers a speedy recovery.

"Due to the presence of women and children in the housing colony, the operations are being progressed cautiously to minimise casualties", the Army said in a statement. No one got injured in the attack. Briefing media persons, Gagan Pratap Singh said that the terror attacks in the State had become a routine affair with no virtual sign of governance but anarchy all across the State.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Saturday saw its proceedings disrupted after Speaker Kavinder Gupta linked the terror attack on an army camp in Jammu with Rohingya refugees and an opposition National Conference legislator raised pro-Pakistan slogans in the House.

Earlier reports had said a colonel had been injured. "The number of militants isn't known", he said. "Deeply disturbed by the terrorist attack in Sunjwan today".

The attack comes a day after the occupied valley observed the fifth death anniversary of Afzal Guru, who was hanged by Indian authorities for an alleged attack on the parliament.
