Snapchat update adds GIF stickers and some design changes

Instead, it told critics to keep using the app for personalization features to kick in.

The new GIF stickers update are now available via Giphy. To see all the animated stickers, open the Sticker Picker and tap into the search field.

Before this handsome partnership, Snapchat had in-house designed stickers that launched in late 2017.

Starting from today, you'll be able to select from Giphy's huge range of looping gifs. After you take a snap, go to the Stickers button in the toolbar.

As with Instagram, the stickers can also be pinned to a part of the snap to have them move, rotate or scale along with what they're attached to. The tabs will help users filter between friends' stories, group chats, and subscriptions in Discover. During a conference speech last week, Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel essentially said "get used it", when discussing the update.

"The new update presumes you want to see the Snapchat stories that are trending but it's all reality stars and rubbish", Snapchat user Beth Fox told Sputnik.

Over 1.2 million people have signed a petition asking Snapchat to revert back to the version before its most recent update.

Miss Fox, who has signed the petition, said many of her friends were switching from Snapchat to Instagram because of the update.

Snapchat has responded to a hugely popular Change.org petition against its recent redesign - and once again made clear that it has no intention to roll back these design changes.
