Real Madrid transfer bombshell: Cristiano Ronaldo secret text message to PSG revealed

He has carried on his love affair with the Champions League as a coach, from his role as assistant to Carlo Ancelotti in Real's 2014 triumph to leading Madrid to glory himself in the last two seasons.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has had the Champions League trophy tattooed on his leg.

According to the Daily Mail, Neymar also had three swallows tattooed behind his left ear to symbolise "honour, respect, courage, freedom, dignity and trust".

PSG will have the ideal chance to demonstrate its progress when it takes on Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Wednesday in a first-leg match in the last 16 of the Champions League. Let's just hope his troublesome calf holds out.

Carvajal insisted there were no favourites for the tie against PSG, who are flying high in Ligue 1.

The incident prompted some PSG fans to boo Neymar, even though he scored four goals in the 8-0 win.

"I think Neymar will go to Real Madrid".

"It also helps me to relativise when under pressure, to be more relaxed".

There is however one unifying objective for all who work at Parc des Princes - Neymar and Emery included - and that is to win the Champions League.

Zidane has been going through the toughest period of his short managerial career, with Real fourth in La Liga, a huge 17 points behind leaders Barcelona, albeit with a game in hand.

The time has arrived for the headline act of the 2017/18 Champions League to get underway.

With PSG boasting Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani and Real having their own trio of attacking superstars in Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, there will be no shortage of attacking talent on show.

PSG manager Unai Emery told the press: "I think we played the kind of game we had to, but it's true it will be different on Wednesday". We don't have any in the sense we're happy to be able to play these games.

The two European heavyweights clash in the first leg at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night in a game Ronaldo has called a "very important match against a great team".

In France, persistent speculation about a potential Real bid to sign Neymar - possibly as early as 2018 - has been seen as an attempt to unsettle PSG ahead of this tie.

"They are two great players". It might well prove to be one of the most pointless games of football ever played but one in which Neymar nonetheless aggravated a leg injury which ruled him out of the Lyon challenge.

Paris have of course been in Spain since that game in 2015, and will never forget the 6-1 humiliation they suffered in Barcelona at the same stage of last year's Champions League.
