Prince Harry, Meghan Markle visit Edinburgh on eve of Valentine's Day

The royal couple visited Edinburgh castle this morning, where they were greeted by the Royal Marines Scotland Band, and even a Shetland pony!

The royal couple greeted hundreds of people during their Edinburgh trip.

They began dating last July after being introduced by a mutual friend in London, whom they've vowed not to name in order to protect her privacy.

Meghan Markle wore a Burberry tartan coat as she arrived in Edinburgh for a public engagement with Prince Harry today, beginning at the city's castle.

If you're hoping to look like Markle (and Cruachan), her tartan Burberry coat, which she paired with Veronica Beard trousers and a Strathberry handbag, is still available for $2,895.

He said: "We've come up from Durham to see them, this is the nearest place for us but it's been worth it".

"I also think Meghan is a role model, she's not just a pretty face". I am delighted that they have chosen Edinburgh for their visit and no matter the weather, I am sure citizens will provide them with the warmest of Scottish welcomes.

"So then we were really by ourselves, which was crucial to me to make sure that we had a chance to get to know each other".

In addition to getting familiar with the UK, Meghan is also preparing for her big day.

Ms Speirs said of the prince: "He was lovely".

As social media users quickly pointed out, Cruachan perhaps thought the prince was holding out a treat for him.

Harry and his bride-to-be started the visit with a walkabout, meeting well-wishers before heading inside the historic fortress to watch as the One O'clock Gun is fired, a tradition started in 1861 to mark time for ships in the Firth of Forth.

Social Bite is a social enterprise that donates over 100,000 food and hot beverage items to homeless people in Scotland each year.

'They were asking how long we'd been homeless for and how much Social Bite has helped change us and move us on'.

Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio stopped for lunch at Social Bite venture Home in Edinburgh's west end in November 2016, while the Duchess of Cornwall and actor George Clooney have been to Social Bite's Rose Street branch.

While there, Meghan is said to have become emotional during a conversation about women's rights with the charity's co-founder Alice Thompson.

"First on the list is silver service - she must be able to tell a fish knife from her butter knife, know how to handle seafood, drink soup and so on".
