NBA All-Star Weekend Odds: Slam Dunk, Three-Point, Skills Challenge

NBA All-Star Weekend Odds: Slam Dunk, Three-Point, Skills Challenge

There were incredible performances from start to finish by some of the National Basketball Association most dynamic players. Indiana's Victor Oladipo was fourth with 71 points.

Oladipo missed all three of his dunks in the first round, which nearly doomed his night.

From start to finish, Mitchell was consistent, rarely missing any dunks and scoring at least 48 on every attempt.

Nance Jr. honoured his father during the Slam Dunk Contest on Saturday as he wore his old Phoenix Suns jersey and replicated the dunk he performed in the 1984 version where he won the inaugural competition.

Judges for the dunk contest were comedian Chris Rock, rapper DJ Khaled, actor Mark Wahlberg, Sixers and dunking legend Julius Erving, and WNBA great Lisa Leslie. He catches it on its way down, from the bottom, and brings it back for a ferocious dunk. From the multiple attempts per dunk to the props and lack of stars, fans had plenty to say about the underwhelming dunk contest Saturday night.

Dallas Mavericks rookie Dennis Smith Jr. earned the first 50 of the night with a between-the-legs, 360-degree dunk for but did not advance out of the first round. Nance Jr. and his father Larry Nance Sr. are the first father-son duo to ever compete in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

The NBA All-Star Break brings one of the most anticipated events in sports in NBA All-Star Weekend.

"It was obviously a big moment for my family, something I'll cherish forever", he said. Gordon had limitless potential - it still feels like he does - and he could pull off coordinated and complicated dunks on his first try. "He did not want to see another Larry Nance win".

Note: The Mavericks will now return to play February 23 in Los Angeles against the Lakers. While some fans believe some luster has been lost from the contest, there is still something awesome about watching players throw down innovative dunks.

It was possibly the best dunk of the night and wrapped up the contest quickly as he took down Cleveland Cavaliers recruit Larry Nance the final. And to end the night, Donovan Mitchell won the Verizon Slam Dunk Contest, throwing down four dunks to remember. That got him into the Finals. Since he is only nine days removed from being shipped out of Los Angeles, Nance Jr. said he felt right at home in the Staples Center.

It earned a flawless 50.

"I just dunked and played defence and I watched a lot of Vince's (Carter) videos". It does not come as a surprise that Nance wanted one of the best passers in the league to feed him some on-point dimes.

Brooklyn Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie defeated the Chicago Bulls' Lauri Markkanen in the final round to take home the Skills Challenge trophy.
