Conte pleased with confidence boost ahead of Barca clash

Chelsea can overcome recent wobbles and dismiss Hull in Friday night's fifth-round FA Cup tie, says Dave Tindall.

Willian scored twice, Olivier Giroud grabbed his first goal for Chelsea while Pedro - hoping to face his former club in the week - also found the net before being replaced at half-time.

Meyler had a chance to pull a goal back for the visitors with a penalty after half-time but the Republic of Ireland worldwide had his spot-kick saved by Willy Caballero.

Chelsea's victory was justified however and a better reflection for Hull arguably wouldn't have demonstrated that.

Although Antonio Conte's men have been underwhelming of late, losing three of their previous five games in all competitions, there never looked to be any danger of a shock on Friday, with two-goal Willian and Giroud catching the eye in a ruthless display.

Marshall, Meyler, Dawson, MacDonald, Clark, Stewart, Irvine (Batty 88), Wilson (Toral 55), Evandro, Diomande, Dicko (Campbell 72).

"Good game, good performance".

"But it was a great experience for everybody and one that we all enjoyed".

Willian highlighted the importance of Chelsea gaining some much-need momentum ahead of their clash with Barcelona. Our start was impressive.

"I was a player and I understand it". I take a lot of pleasure on the pitch and I think we can see the team has a lot of cohesion. I have different options.

'This game is another good step for him to prepare for the Barcelona game.

"We lost two games at the end of a busy period. But now, we must be confident", added the Italian.

In between the two legs against the Catalan giants, Chelsea travel to Manchester United and Manchester City on Premier League duty as they battle for a place in the top four. Pedro put in an excellent cross and a clever chip over the Hull defence found Giroud nearly clear in on goal but the striker couldn't compose himself to finish. You have to try and accept also these bad situations.

"Because every one of them is a cup final for us in respect of where we are in the division". The midfielder hit the ball true on the volley but the keeper was just able to tip the shot wide. Evandro played his first 90 minutes for god knows how long. Whoever was fit for selection was out there today.

And even though his future is unclear, the locals once again made their feelings clear as they continually sung his name in the first half of a mismatch against the 21st-placed team in the Championship. Second half, well done us.
