Stars dressed mainly in black in a show of support for the fight against sexual harassment as The Shape of Water topped the nominations list.

Pixar's record-breaking Mexican-based animation Coco won the Animated feature award, while South Korean drama The Handmaiden won Best Foreign Film.

"Three Billboards", the monster fantasy "The Shape of Water" and the World War II flag-waver "Darkest Hour" are front-runners for the British prizes, considered a key indicator of likely success at Hollywood's Oscars in two weeks' time.
