Several shot in Long Beach, police say

A number of people were wounded before an active shooter was suppressed at a Long Beach business on Friday, officials said.

Police searched the law firm where the shooting occurred and also checked a satellite office elsewhere in Long Beach. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Long Beach police say the incident is now over but didn't elaborate.

An attorney who reportedly had just been canned at a Southern California law firm opened fire in the office, killing one senior partner and wounding another before killing himself, according to the Orange County Register. Authorities said the suspect and victims appeared to be employees at the Law Offices of Perona, Langer, Beck, Serbin, Mendoza and Harrison.

One of the partners who was shot was driven to a nearby hospital.

Eventually, police confirmed the gunman and another victim were dead, with a third person was injured.

Video showed people running from an unmarked building, shouting about a shooting inside. Several ambulances were on the scene. No shots were fired by police. Anyone with information can call Long Beach police homicide detectives Donald Goodman and Mark Mattia at 562-570-7244. CBS Los Angeles reports there were two died - the shooter and a victim.
