Paul Pierce Doesn't Want Isaiah Thomas Tribute Video During Jersey Retirement

The Celtics apparently have no problem with that, and have granted that request.

Say what you want about tribute videos, but it's tough to argue that Isaiah Thomas doesn't deserve one from the Boston Celtics.

The Boston Celtics will graciously grant Cleveland Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas' request to postpone his video tribute for the next meeting in Boston between the two teams on February 11 in order for his family to be in attendance.

Isaiah Thomas endeared himself to Boston Celtics fans in the short time he was there, but he probably doesn't want to get into a competition with all-time Celtics legend Paul Pierce.

"I'm not saying Isaiah shouldn't get a tribute video".

Thomas doesn't believe one in-game video will take the spotlight away from Pierce and explained why he didn't want it to be done on Wednesday night.

"I enjoyed watching that throughout the game", Pierce said. And Thomas, who made his emotional debut for Cleveland on Tuesday, says he doesn't want the C's to play a tribute video Wednesday night, both because he won't be playing and also because his family won't be in attendance. "I just wanted my family to be here to see it", Thomas said Wednesday (via the AP), after he watched his Cleveland Cavaliers lose in Boston, 102-88.

"That's Pierce's night, but the video tribute aint the whole night", Thomas said. I wanted to be able to play. "I wanted my family to experience the love and appreciation of this city and this organization are going to give me on that night". And when my representatives reached out to these guys, [the Celtics] were all for it. Judging from Paul Pierce's latest tweet, The Truth may end up setting someone on fire (metaphorically) in fewer than 280 characters. I don't know if they need to put him in a tribute video ... If they choose to do it that night, that would be great.
