Oprah not 'actively considering' 2020 run, says close friend Gayle King

As Democrats nationwide encourage Oprah Winfrey to seek the presidency in 2020, those closest to the media mogul are sending mixed messages about her political intentions. "Just saw @Oprah's empowering and inspiring speech at last night's #GoldenGlobes".

Further, she and other A list celebrities brought with them activists for gender based violence and racial injustice such as #MeToo founder, Tarana burke who started the worldwide hashtag movement that urged women to speak up against sexual harassment and abuse.

The actress and businesswoman accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award at Sunday's ceremony and received a lengthy standing ovation, which she tried to calm down.

Meghan McCain, perhaps unsurprisingly, was negative on an Oprah presidential run. "Anyway, who cares, I adore Oprah". She had Donald Trump - this was before politics - her last week, and she had Donald Trump and my family.

"I don't think she's going to run, " he added. Let's all come together, women & men, & say #TIMESUP! And though polls show his approval up slightly since, Trump is the least popular first-year president on record. "Will she run for president?" Over 30 years, she became the face of television talk shows, starred and produced feature films, and began her own network.

Trump as far back as 1999 when he considered running as the Reform Party candidate told Larry King he would consider Winfrey as a running mate. "I'd love to have Oprah. I don't think at this point she's actually considering it". Trump said in the interview. In fact, she was brought into the mix nearly 20 years ago by current President Donald Trump.

This isn't the first time Oprah's name has been tossed into the political ring. "She would absolutely do it". Ivanka caught a lot of flak on Twitter for her vague sentiment of solidarity with women while she continues to serve in the administration of her father, who has multiple accusations of sexual harrassment against him and spoke on audio tape about groping women without their consent. That could soften what Palmieri describes as an enduring resistance among some voters to women with political ambition. In October 2017, Oprah told CBS, "There will be no running for office of any kind for me".
