Obama gives dancing tips in first clip of Letterman's new show

Filled with chatter about karate kicks and dance moves, the first clip of David Letterman's exclusive interview with former president Barack Obama was released Wednesday afternoon by Netflix, in advance of its Friday premiere. Add Barack Obama as an interest to stay up to date on the latest Barack Obama news, video, and analysis from ABC News.

Obama said the invitation to the dance floor surprised him "because she always mocks my dancing".

"This was probably three or four months before he died and Prince asks [my daughter] Sasha to come up and dance, and she's an excellent dancer", Obama says in the clip, according to Variety. "I have dad moves and I think the key is what we call 'staying in the pocket.' " More Letterman laughter.

"My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman" on Netflix has Barack Obama on as the first guest.

Obama goes on to explain what he means by that, pointing out how dads run the risk of "trying stuff they can't really pull off" once they step outside the pocket.

"These are people that I admire", Letterman said about the guests on the show's Netflix trailer.

Episodes for the hour-long, six-part series will be rolled out once a month, with future chats confirmed with Jay-Z, George Clooney, Malala Yousafazi, Tina Fey and "shock jock" extraordinaire Howard Stern. We're looking forward to seeing the former "Late Show" host take on a new project.
