Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus faces up to two months out after suffering an injury in the goalless draw at Crystal Palace.

Sergio Aguero struck the post in the first half with a deflected effort, and City dominated the final 45 minutes, but they found Palace's resilience too much to overcome, failing to score in a Premier League game for the first time this season.

"They have very good players so as a defensive unit you have to be concentrated for 90 minutes".

"Big credit to Crystal Palace. Both sides have paid a high price for the point". "Of course we can not win every match". We spoke many times about how they would play.

"There are now more strong teams, a lot of competitions, a lot of games".

Despite noticeable improvements since taking charge, the south Londoners remain in a precarious position under Hodgson sitting just one point above the bottom three following Thursday's 3-2 defeat to Arsenal.

The penalty incident itself was a controversial one, with the initial contact on Wilfried Zaha by Raheem Sterling outside the box, before the former appeared to dive in the box, but referee Jon Moss awarded the spot kick.

There is also concern over Kevin De Bruyne after he was stretchered off in the closing moments following a rash challenge from Jason Puncheon, and Guardiola said he is a doubt for the clash with Watford in two days time.

Reacting, City's manager, Pep Guardiola, also said forward Gabriel Jesus was likely to be out for up to two months after an injury early in the game. Then Kevin we were lucky, well not lucky. "But I don't know what happens in the future".

"To be focused after 17 games in a row is not easy but we did it [against Newcastle]".
