According to a release issued by the CBFC, the board had a meeting of their examining committee on December 28 and made a decision to give the film a "UA certification along with some modifications and likely change of the film's title on the basis the attributed material/creative source". Soon, Himachal Pradesh also followed suit prompting Karni Sena to take their protests to pan-India.

Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani on Frday said Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial film "Padmavat" will be not released in the state, days after his Rajasthan counterpart Vasundhara Raje announced the same.

CBFC recommended five modifications in the flick to avoid more controversy, the change of the movie-title being one of them.

Mumbai: Additional security personnel were deployed outside the office of Central Board of Film Certification on Friday after Karni Sena threatened to stage a protest against clearance given to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial venture Padmaavat (earlier, Padmavati).

Here are the 5 changes suggested by CBFC. This has already been communicated by CBFC and a U/A certificate has been given to the film.

Karni Sena workers claim that changing the name of the film doesn't suffice.

The disclaimer should not claim historical accuracy. The Ghoomar song was also asked to be changed to fit the character in it.

The person added on saying, "Bhansali Productions and Viacom18 Motion Pictures, as producers, have accepted and have made all the above changes". We believe that these changes are in line with the filmic depiction of the story we wanted to tell, " he said.

The movie, which was earlier set to arrive in theatres on December 1 past year, will now release on January 25. The official Twitter and Instagram handles of the film have added "a" to the film's title.

Padmaavat stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari and Jim Sarbh. The historians were astonished whether Padmini actually existed.
