Jon Gruden introduced as Oakland Raiders head coach

However, the new Raiders head coach will call all the plays himself - which comes as absolutely no surprise.

When it came time for the press conference to begin, the Raiders pulled out all the stops for Gruden's return.

After leading the Raiders to 8-8 records his first two years, Gruden helped the team reach the AFC title game following the 2000 season and got Oakland back into the playoffs the following season.

The Raiders introduced coach Jon Gruden on Tuesday and here is that press conference in full, presented as a special edition of our Third and Twenty podcast.

Gruden, 54, was traded in 2002 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by late Raiders owner Al Davis, who fetched two first-round picks, two second-round picks and $8-million for the charismatic young coach.

"Brady fumbled that ball", Gruden said, before turning serious. In 2016, Penn was named the recipient of the Craig Long Award which is presented to the Raiders player who best exemplifies professionalism with the media. I love the preparation.

Just so we close the loop-I was told the 2nd minority candidate the #Raiders interviewed for their head coaching position, before Jon Gruden was hired, was Tee Martin-USCs offensive coordinator/ wide receivers coach. Gruden last coached in 2008, with the Buccaneers. "But I want to win". "I'm ready for another challenge, and I'm eager to prove I can do it", Gruden said. "I haven't won a game since 2008, but I haven't lost one either". Obviously, Derek Carr is a huge reason Gruden took the job.

Gruden made it clear that McKenzie would continue to be the team's general manager and said personnel decisions would be a collaborative effort.
