'He's scared of me' - Will Ferrell reveals Roger Federer's fears

'He's scared of me' - Will Ferrell reveals Roger Federer's fears

In freakish scenes following the Swiss maestro's 6-3 6-4 6-3 win over Aljaz Bedene on Tuesday night, the Hollywood icon walked onto the court and stole the limelight from the 19-time grand slam champion with an interview as awkward as what you'd expect given the role he's played that will define the actor's legacy.

He then proceeded to ask Roger a series of weird questions about his performance and tennis game, including whether he played like a "silky gazelle" and lived off a diet of wombat meat.

The 36-year-old admitted he fears he is in for disappointment this year after the supreme high of 12 months ago, when he defeated Rafael Nadal in an epic five-set final.

"I knew he was going to go for his shots, it's a question of protecting your own serve as well as you can, then try to get a break".

Ferrell is in Australia with his production company, which recently remade a U.S. version of the Australian TV series "No Activity". The match will be held at Rod Laver Arena.

RF: "They remind me of my name, it's good".

One member of the sell-out crowd yelled "Give him a chance Rog" late on but the Swiss was not listening and he finished the match on Bedene's serve when his opponent netted a backhand.

As usual, the 36-year-old Federer stayed classy, and tried and make the conversation amusing. "I've practised with him [Struff], and played against him in doubles and singles", said Federer, in an on-court interview with former World No. 1 Jim Courier. At the end, I realised he is still actually there.

"People seemed to enjoy themselves".

"I feel like sometimes some players have gotten a little bit too robot-like. All ended up way better than I thought it would, as you know". "He stood there, didn't look at me, just was like focusing on the questions. I am not sure it will go as well (as 2017) because I'm a year older, Rafa's looking in tip-top shape and others guys are coming back". "It distracted me", said Gavrilova, whose head suddenly filled with conspiracy-like theories.
