Everton sign Turkey global defender Tosun in 36 mln Dollars deal

Tosun, who has joined Everton from Besiktas, and has been capped 25 times for his country, said he is eager to be involved in Everton's next Premier League game, against London club Tottenham on January 13.

The club announced the deal during half time of their FA Cup third round tie against city rivals Liverpool, after the Turkey global agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Tosun could make the Everton squad for the derby against the Reds if he is registered in time.

The deal completes a frantic week for Everton, with the move at one stage looking to be on the brink of collapse.

"I bring my skills here and everybody is going to see what kind of player I am".

"I want to play as soon as possible". Also I can use both feet the same and I believe I am a good striker in the box. "He said he really wanted me here and to feel that, of course, is another big reason to come to Everton". I hope they can make a lot of assists for me!

Allardyce has already eased worries over relegation at Goodison Park and will now focus on further progress in the Premier League after a 2-1 FA Cup exit at Liverpool.

"I'm really excited to work with my new team mates because Everton has really, really big names, big players".

This lad looks like he is strong mentally and has a good pedigree.

Tosun had scored 14 goals in 24 appearances for Besiktas this campaign and will be a welcome boost for Everton, who have struggled to find the net since last season's top scorer Romelu Lukaku moved to Manchester United in July. "I don't think you can look any more than we have done and, for the price, this is the best in Europe at the moment", said the manager.

The 26-year-old Tosun, who has always been linked with a move to Everton, arrives on a 4-1/2 year contract and pledged to bring goals to a side who have struggled to score this season.
