Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze hits Switch on May 4

While the new version of the game for Switch will largely be a port of the Wii U version, the Switch version of Tropical Freeze will also pack in a few new features.

With the Nintendo Switch outpacing the Wii U's sales, it's clear that many gamers skipped Nintendo's last generation console entirely.

According to that broadcast, Nintendo will be porting Hyrule Warriors and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze over to the Switch this year.

In that respect, bringing them to Switch is a wise move, although we personally don't think we've got the willpower to play through Hyrule Warriors a third time.

On Nintendo Direct this morning, Nintendo announced that another game for Wii U will be taken to Nintendo Switch.

The Switch version includes the original game, plus a new beginner-friendly mode that lets you play as surfing simian Funky Kong. Later, Nintendo released Hyrule Warriors Legends on 3DS, which featured additional characters from portable characters like Spirit Tracks and A Link Between Worlds. This new mode will make the game much more accessible to a younger audience.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will land on Switch on May 4.
