Comedian and Actor Jerry Van Dyke of 'Coach' Dies at 86

Jerry Van Dyke, the actor, comedian and younger brother of Dick Van Dyke, died Friday, according to the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times. She says they were involved in a auto accident over 2 years ago. and Jerry's health had deteriorated since. While it is unclear if Jerry's brother Dick was present at the time of his passing, Shirley did confirm that the brothers spent time together while Dick visited them for Christmas last month.

A beloved comedian just like his brother, Jerry pursued stand-up as a young man and performed at military bases around the world.

In addition to his long-running series, Jerry also appeared on his brother's shows including The Dick Van Dyke Show.

Van Dyke was also known for his role on "Coach" where he played Assistant Coach Luther Van Dam.

Van Dyke's credits range from "My Mother the Car" in the 1960s to "Coach" in the late 1980s to, more recently, "The Middle".

Van Dyke had three children with his first wife, Carol, including daughter Kelly Jean, who died in 1991.
