Chelsea is looking for a replacement for Antonio Conte

"What we believe really is there are some players in football world if you have the chance to sign them in January, March or July, you have to try, and that's it".

29 July 2017: Conte says that he must avoid "a Mourinho season" as the champions attempt to defend their Premier League title.

The Italian manager has been linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, and is understood to have a strained relationship with the club's hierarchy over transfer policy.

Blaming the conflict on personal issues rather than professional, Conte said to BBC Sport: "This is not a problem from the club, it is a problem between me and him".

"There is something unusual that after the first game we lost against Burnley the press pushed quickly to sack me".

When quizzed about United's interest in Alexis Sanchez, Mourinho said he feels it is disrespectful to talk about players who are contracted to other clubs.

However Conte says he is happy and wants to continue making progress at Chelsea.

Conte admitted Kenedy may be sent out on loan amid rumours that Newcastle are keen on the Brazilian.

"He has only one season he played regularly for Marseille".

Conte's reputation was enhanced by his success at Stamford Bridge last season before things started to unravel after he won the Premier League title.

Whatever happens, Conte has reaffirmed his credentials as one of the game's best managers during his spell in west London.

Juventus boss Max Allegri and former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique have emerged as the early front-runners at the top of the list.

Allegri's success at Juventus and AC Milan makes him Chelsea's preferred choice to take over from Conte.

He will never admit that Mourinho has got under his skin, but the Blues' recent games have been frustrating to watch for their fans with team selection, tactics and individual player performances all drawing a fair amount of criticism.

Allegri signed a new contract at Juventus a year ago which ties him to the Turin club until 2020.
