CHAN: Super Eagles unchanged for Libya clash

Sunday Faleye slammed home the only goal of the game as Nigeria beat Libya 1-0 in their second African Nations Championship clash in Tanger on Friday.

The win boosted Amavubi's chances of qualifying to the quarter-finals.

Faleye nearly doubled Nigeria's lead after Ibrahim unselfishly laid a pass but for a timely intervention from a Libya's Ahmed Al Maghasi.

The Eagles at least had the better of the tie, with the lively Faleye twice threatening a break through in the first half only to lose his footing on both occasions.

Nigeria's last group game is against Equatorial Guinea next Tuesday in Agadir while Libya will be battling with Rwanda also on the same day.

Constant fouling meant the match never developed a rhythm and neither side created a clearcut scoring opportunity until Faleye netted 11 minutes from time.

The home-based Super Eagles who started with a disappointing barren draw against Rwanda on Monday, are now group C leaders with 4 points, Libya following closely with 3 points.

Sunday Faleye was the hero of the day as the Super Eagles B team defeated their Libyan counterpart by a goal to nil courtsey of the solitary goal scored by Faleye in the 74th minute of the game.

Libya were unable to find a late equalizer in the closing stages of the game and in the end, Nigeria secured a 1-0 win over the Mediterranean Knights.
