Investigators Tuesday analyzed footage from surveillance cameras in south Lebanon's Sidon as the investigation into an explosion targeting Hamas Movement official Mohammad Hamdan entered its second day.

The official, who identified Hamdan as a Hamas member, spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

The television channel then reported that Hamdan played a leading security role at Hamas, adding that Israel was tracing him.

Hamas leader Jihad Taha blamed Israel for the attack. The blast took place around noon (1000 GMT), the Lebanese army said in a statement. Security forces cordoned off the area and firefighters put out the blaze.

"A bomb placed in a BMW in Sidon detonated, wounding Hamas official Mohammed Hamdan", a military source said on Sunday.

Hamdan was reportedly conscious following the attack, and was rapidly transferred to a nearby hospital, the source said. He was transported to the hospital, where he was being treated for his wounds.

However, Zionist analysts said that in case "Israel" was behind the operation, it has aimed at striking Hamas Lebanon's wing which is administering the intifada in the occupied Palestinian territories in coordination with Hezbollah.
