Airtel and Idea revamp their plans to compete with Reliance Jio's offers

While Airtel, the largest telecom company by subscriber base has an prepaid recharge offer for Rs 349 and Rs 549 which offer more than 1GB of high speed data per day, Reliance Jio has a prepaid recharge priced at Rs 299, which offers 2GB of data per day. These plans were already some of the cheapest ones around, so the drop will likely make existing customers happy and attract new ones as well.

Reliance Jio has knocked Rs 50 off some of its existing plans, which gives tough competition to rivals in the market. Jio's Rs 149 recharge offer gives clients an aggregate of 28GB 4G app for 28 days, which is one of the least expensive in the business.

If discounts aren't what you are after, and you'd rather benefit from having extra data, Reliance Jio has you covered. After the update - which will be applicable only post Jan 9 - that is Tuesday, the Rs 149 plan - according to Jio - will be the lowest ever tariff in the industry, on the other hand, Rs 399 plan will provide 20 per cent additional data with enhanced validity of 2 additional weeks, increasing the current validity from 70 to 84 days.

With the recharge of Rs. 448, users get 1.5GB data per day for 84 days, bringing the total to 126GB.

-Rs 499 changes to Rs 449: now, under the Rs 499 plan, Jio users get 91GB of 4G data for 91 days. This offers also gives free voice calls, free SMS, and 1GB data daily. The validity of the plan is 91 days.

-Rs 448: Jio under the Rs 448 plan now offers 84GB of data for 84 days with a daily limit of 1GB.

-Rs 498: Under this plan, Jio now offers 91GB of data for 91 days with a daily data limit of 1GB. It has also reduced 1GB data rate to Rs 4 for a 1-day validity plan. Other benefits like unlimited calling (local, STD and roaming) and daily 100 SMS remain the same for all the plans we've just discussed.
