Trump alters story on why he fired Flynn

Mr Flynn was the first member of Trump's administration to plead guilty to a crime uncovered by special counsel Robert Mueller's wide-ranging investigation into Russian attempts to influence the 2016 USA presidential election and possible collusion by Trump aides.

I mention this only because the revelation that an FBI agent, Peter Strzok, who supervised both the Hillary email investigation and the Trump-Russia probe sent anti-Trump text messages to his alleged mistress, an FBI lawyer, goes straight to the heart of many Americans' sense that the FBI should be fair and impartial, working with an eye on the bigger historical and legal picture, above the petty politics of the day. Trump has criticized the FBI's handling of the Clinton email investigation, initially citing it as his reason for firing former FBI director James Comey on May 9.

U.S. President Donald Trump's former National Security Adviser, Michael T. Flynn, pleaded guilty on Friday to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about conversations with the Russian ambassador last December during the presidential transition, bringing the special counsel's probe into the President's inner circle.

The Impeach-O-Meter is a wildly subjective and speculative daily estimate of the likelihood that Donald Trump leaves office before his term ends, whether by being impeached (and convicted) or by resigning under threat of same.

"There's s been absolutely no collusion, so we're very happy".

That member, who was not identified, directed Flynn to contact officials from foreign governments, including Russian Federation, about the United Nations resolution and told him that blocking it was Trump's top priority, court records say.

During his testimony to Congress in June, Comey said Trump asked him in February to drop the FBI investigation into Flynn centering on his calls with Kislyak during the transition. He is a good guy.

"Immediately upon learning of the allegations, the Special Counsel's Office removed Peter Strzok from the investigation", spokesman Peter Carr said. Trump fired Comey on May 9. Mueller was ramping up his investigation into Mr. Trump's former advisers, while also coming under criticism for putting many donors to Democratic candidates on his team.

"No, I'm not", Trump said when asked if he was anxious about what Michael Flynn will tell investigators. It's unclear what, if anything, Trump believes Flynn lied about, if he had nothing to hide.

Before departing the White House on Saturday, Trump repeated to reporters that there was "no collusion" between his campaign and Russian officials or representatives, though he did not elaborate on that claim.
