Sony has sold more than 70 million PlayStation 4 consoles

PS4 has sold through more than 70.6M units to consumers worldwide as of December 3, 2017.

Sony's PlayStation 4 has now sold over 70 million units.

PS4 games have been sold - that's in shops and from the PlayStation Store - Sony said. Microsoft no longer breaks out sales numbers, but one estimate puts it at around 30 million as of August.

The PlayStation 3 sold about 80 million in its lifetime, while the PlayStation 2 sold about 155 million over the course of 13 years.

Ever since Sony Interactive Entertianment (SIE) launched the PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD), the device has proven to be popular among PlayStation 4 owners. While the console has hit a solid stride, its first year and a half were extremely sluggish due to the lack of games dedicated to the Japanese market, following by a large cross-generation period in which games released also on PS3 reduced the attractiveness of the new console.

2018's "God of War" looks incredible.

If you already own a PS4 and you're just looking to stock up on games, there is a Flash Sale now being held on the PlayStation Store for The Game Awards. And if you're looking for a way to enjoy more 4K content on your new 4K TV, the PlayStation 4 Pro offers an upgrade path to even prettier games. Numerous year's best games, including Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Destiny 2, Persona 5, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Prey are heavily discounted. All of which is to say one thing: Sony's PlayStation 4 isn't showing any signs of slowing down.
