Peter Kay cancels forthcoming tour due to 'unforeseen family circumstances'

Peter Kay has cancelled all his upcoming tour dates due to family health reasons.

PETER Kay's fans have flooded Twitter with messages of support after the comedian cancelled his 100-date stand up tour.

Tickets for numerous shows sold out instantly after going on sale last month, with the tour due to extend into June 2019.

Fans and professionals alike were clearly gutted about the news, but appreciated how his family comes first and respected Kay's decision.

He appealed for privacy stating that he had always endeavoured to protect his family from publicity.

Kay initially announced 26 dates across 2018 and 2019, kicking off in Birmingham in April 2018, but soon tripled the line-up to more than 80 shows, including 16 nights in Manchester.

Kay has also cancelled all his other scheduled live appearances, including six of the Dance For Life charity discos he DJs that had been set for the new year.

'My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I'm sure you'll understand my family must always come first. Once again, I am very sorry'. However, he never speaks about his family directly, guarding their privacy. I know how lucky I am to be making television series and have really loved these past few years working on Car Share, but I miss doing stand-up. "I can't wait to get back up on stage".

Peter Kay announced the specials on this year's Children In Need, saying: 'It's been a very hard secret to keep.

The comedian's statement included this further information: "Customers for Peter Kay's Live Arena Tour and Dance for Life shows will be refunded from their original point of purchase and any specific ticket queries should be directed to them".
