Kate Winslet and Stephen Colbert Recreate 'Titanic' Ending

"Plus, he should have just tried harder to get on that door", Winslet joked of the theory that Jack could've fit on the stranded door with Rose to avoid freezing to death. The actress also explained that she and her co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio, improvised their iconic love scene in the film.

"Yeah, I was really f-cking cold", she exclaimed in a "lightning round" of questions written by massive "Titanic" fans on Colbert's staff. Winslet confirms that Paramount wanted Matthew McConaughey for the role of Jack, revealing that she actually auditioned with McConaughey at one point.

Colbert then stood in for Jack, Winslet lay down on the desk, and the next thing you know, he's up there on the desk with her.

As if that weren't enough, the duo proceeded to demonstrate what this alternate Titanic ending would have looked like by literally hopping atop Colbert's anchor desk. They weren't so sweaty after all. It's a grand piece of classical filmmaking, and I think because the film is this larger-than-life behemoth it's made it uncool to actually like it.

"Come on, darling!" she called out to him.

The 63-year-old director stated in a recent interview with Vanity Fair: "It says on page 147 [of the script] that Jack dies". Is getting to work with incredible technicians who are always great, committed, professional fun people to spend time with and to go to work with.
