Huawei P11 May Feature A Triple Lens Rear Camera

Huawei P11 May Feature A Triple Lens Rear Camera

Employed by a creative agency known to work with Huawei, the artist posted four adverts for a new device in his/her portfolio and they all reveal important information about the Leica-made camera of the new handset. For selfie lovers, the phone will have 24 MP selfie camera.

And by insane we mean packing 40MP triple lens setup on the back with 5x hybrid zoom and a 24MP selfie camera with low-light enhancement - all co-developed by Leica.

Here's the photo as shared on Twitter by top mobile tipster Evan Blass, aka @evleaks. However, like all rumours, it should be taken with a pinch of salt. Huawei declined to comment on the ads.

We all know Huawei loves its dual rear camera systems a bit too much.

In retrospect, the "PCE" could not be a series but the next version of the Huawei P10 which may be called as Huawei P11, according to a report by CNET. Transitioning to a 24-megapixel front camera would be a significant step up from the P10.

Despite this, a triple camera setup would be very interesting for Huawei. The new Kirin 970 SoC that will power the P11 and other Huawei phones in 2018 sports a dedicated NPU (Neural Processing Unit), which is partially dedicated to offloading demanding image processing tasks from the CPU. The triple lens could also produce even sharper pictures. In fact, one of the leaked images specifically touts a "Pro AI camera assist feature", capable of things like "scene recognition" and "auto framing".

As with other Huawei devices that have leveraged their partnership with Leica, the material indicates they'll be using the same "co-engineered with Leica" tagline in the advertisements.

When and where this next Huawei P-series handset might launch is now anyone's guess. The P11 is expected to launch at Mobile World Congress in February.
