Greenville police respond to two armed robberies Thursday

Demarieia Collins, 17, was arrested Thursday night in Spartanburg, according to Greenville Police Department representative Johnathan Bragg.

Police say they responded to reports of two armed purse-snatchings in different locations in Greenville on Thursday afternoon.

Greenville police learned that a similar robbery with a similar-looking suspect occurred at a Speedway Store in Oak City, which is about 13 miles north of Bethel, on Wednesday.

Officers made contact with the victims who state that they were robbed at gunpoint by two men. Police believe the two robberies are connected. A 23-year-old New York City man told police he was sitting in his vehicle with a person he knew, when someone approached the auto with a gun, he said.

Meanwhile, the other suspect removed all the cash from a drawer at the front desk.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the robbery should call Chesterfield Township Police Det. "Both suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction". He was wearing a black ski mask, a black hooded sweatshirt and black trousers.

The robbery took place on 11th Street near Anderson Street in Greenville.
