Xiaomi Says It Shipped 9.2 Million Smartphones in India Last Quarter

Jain added that he suspected a shakedown of the Indian smartphone brand segment with only a handful of companies surviving which will have great prices, specifications, have innovative features and will be India specific, from the present number of estimated 100-200 brands in the country now - some even specific to some states.

At the time of launch of Xiaomi Redmi Y1 and Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Lite, Xiaomi also announced the MIUI 9 update. The sale will begin at 12pm today. The research claimed that Xiaomi emerged as the fastest growing brand in terms on shipments year-on-year (over 81 percent) driven by strong sales in both China and India. To have a better chance at buying the device, the user is advised to sign in before time, enter the address and card details before 12pm.

The Redmi Y1 is equipped with a 13MP rear camera along with a 16MP front-facing camera with LED flash. There is a fingerprint sensor on-board as well.

The handset has DCI-P3 color gamut 403ppi with a 5.99-inch Full HD bezel-free display with 18:9 aspect ratio, 6GB RAM powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset and has three options for storage: 256 GB, 128GB, and 64 GB. The device uses aluminum alloy mid-frame for better heat dissipation. The latest-gen processor will be couple with either 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, or 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 runs on Android Nougat 7.0 operating system with MIUI 8. Alternatively, you can head to Xiaomi's online store and snap up the device. The 3GB RAM version was until now priced at Rs 10,999 while the 4GB RAM version was priced at Rs 12,999.

The Redmi Y1 is a little different from other Redmi phones in the market right now. Redmi Y series customers will also get free subscription to Hungama Music. Well until the Redmi Y1 happened, Xiaomi's Redmi phones were sold as a complete package and not on the basis of individual stand-out traits. The Redmi Y1, however, is about low costs, noteworthy hardware, and an extra ounce of selfie-taking goodness. The company had launched the phone in January in India in three different variants.

Last but not the least, the 4100 mAh Li-ion sealed battery combined with energy efficient processor can last for a complete day for the heavy users and for the average users the battery can easily get up to 2 days of usage on a single charge.
