World Of Warcraft Classic And Battle Of Azeroth Expansion Announced

Well, Blizzard has relented: at the annual BlizzCon event in California, which is taking place this weekend, WoW executive producer J. Allen Brack told the crowd that classic servers are making a comeback.

Classic, which is now in development at Blizzard, is an attempt to replicate the feeling of playing the original World of Warcraft - though not necessarily how it played right at launch. Exactly how strong is not known- Blizzard no longer shares subscriber numbers, but there are enough users to warrant releasing another expansion for its lucrative gaming franchise. As a defender of the Alliance, venture to the seafaring kingdom of Kul Tiras, home of Jaina Proudmoore, and rally its inhabitants to fight for your cause. What's the next expansion, where's the story going, what characters are the key players? In addition, there will eventually be no distinction between PvE and PvP servers, with the choice being switched to the player instead of the server they reside on. Zones will scale to a cap, so not every region will be equally playable at all levels, but it will allow for a wider range of options to play at any given level.

Battle for Azeroth also includes a new legendary neck piece called the Heart of Azeroth. This means that players will not only get to choose the order of the zones they want to complete, but also the order of expansions they want to tackle. Blizzard will begin implementing it as part of patch 7.3.5, which will be on WoW's PTR in "a few weeks". The chance to experience retro flavors of WoW has been a hot topic in the community for a while now, especially since Blizzard shut down private Vanilla servers past year. "I understand that for some of you, your favorite flavor is vanilla".

Arguably the face of the MMO/RPG's World of Warcraft gets a brand new cinematic trailer and as per usual it's absolutely incredible to watch even if you aren't a World of Warcraft die-hard.

Now there is no word as to when World of Warcraft Classic is set to release, and Blizzard has yet to share any details beyond the short cinematic trailer, but this does mean that players won't have to put up with the drama that comes with unofficial servers.

No release date or specific details have been revealed, but more information about the official classic servers for World of Warcraft might be released over the duration of BlizzCon.
