Veterans' Week hosts events to challenge perceptions of student veterans

Everyone was encouraged to recognize and be thankful towards these courageous men and women who have dedicated themselves to serving The United States of America. Taps, by Nickolas Snell and Aliyeh Wyatt, will follow the Introduction of the Veterans by Wissinger and the Closing will be by Jenna Wilkerson of the FHS Student Council.

Additionally, the St. James staff read the names of more than 100 veterans as students placed individual flags - honoring their relatives - on a cross that will be displayed in the St. James Catholic Church yard. The veterans were introduced at an assembly and then students honored the vets through songs, poems and essays.

Bucktail Middle/Senior High School's annual Veterans Day Assembly Program will begin at 9:30 a.m., at the Dale Florey gymnasium in the high school.

Veterans and ROTC students visited Franklinville Elementary School to host a Veterans Day seminar for students this past Tuesday. "To engage in conversation with them, to recognize them as having been in the military, as having served".

Also on Friday November 10, Clare High School will be hosting its annual Veterans Day program.

Dan Clark, social studies chairman at the high school, encouraged the audience to gain a different perspective from Rep. Johnson's civilian background. There will be local speakers, Harrison High School alumni veterans and music by the Harrison High/Middle School Band. Previous to his Air Force enlistment, Vonada also served three years in the Army Reserves. For more information about the meal or the missions teams' 2018 agenda, call Thelma at 814-355-7134.

Activities are open to all veterans and active duty personnel.

All veterans of USA military are invited to enjoy a free lunch from 11 2 Texas Roadhouse locations at 204 N. Country Fair Drive, C, and 1155 S. Route 51, Forsyth.

He says there will be a Veterans Day observance at the MOC/Floyd Valley Middle School in Alton on Friday morning, November 10th at 10:15 a.m.
