UFC 217 Results: TJ Dillashaw Knocks Out Cody Garbrandt

TJ Dillashaw is once again the bantamweight champion after knocking out his hated rival Cody Garbrandt in the second round of their bantamweight title fight on Saturday night. Dillashaw whiffs on a kick and Garbrandt showboats afterwards. After racking up wins over Raphael Assuncao and John Lineker, Dillashaw earned the right to challenge Garbrandt in his first title defense. During an exchange late in the round, Garbrandt dropped Dillashaw with a perfectly placed right hook. Garbrandt swarmed for the finish, but time was up, and Dillashaw stumbled to his feet before regrouping in the corner.

"I was just yelling, I was just yelling", Dillashaw said. As T.J. escaped, Garbrandt would try to wave him in, but Dillashaw refused to take the bait. When I go to (flyweight), we're going to have to lean that down.

Garbrandt gets to his knees but he's still badly rocked and isn't defending himself, so as the punches continue to rain down the referee has seen enough and brings the fight to an end, handing Dillashaw a massive TKO victory over his bitter rival to reclaim the bantamweight title!

Another quick punch from Garbrandt.

Dillashaw lost his bantamweight crown to Dominick Cruz in January 2016, who went on to also defeat Urijah Faber. Dillashaw took over from there, however, and connected with a counter right hand that dropped Garbrandt a second time. "I should still be the champion and I am the champion".

Cody Garbrandt got a pair of championship pep talks in the week leading up to the biggest fight of his career: Kobe Bryant and Mike Tyson each stopped by for a motivational pick-me-up and to rub elbows with perhaps UFC's next big thing. I should still be the champion.

Conor McGregor was quick to label TJ Dillashaw as a "snake in the grass" during the filming of "The Ultimate Fighter" Season 22 just months prior to his departure.

"Demetrious Johnson - I'm coming for you", Dillashaw added. "You should have been fighting me", he said.
