The Lion King Full Cast Revealed, Beyonce Confirmed

The Lion King Full Cast Revealed, Beyonce Confirmed

Fulfilling every millennials dream, Beyoncé has joined the star studded line-up in Jon Favreau's upcoming live action Lion King remake as lioness Nala.

We already knew that everyone's favourite rapper/singer/actor/writer/director Donald Glover would be playing Simba, John Oliver will play Zazu, and that James Earl Jones would be reprising his role as Mufasa, who he played in the 1994 original.

But it's the confirmed cast of The Lion King 2019 that has people seriously losing their minds (like me, I am losing my mind, it me). With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

Rapper, actor and screenwriter Donald Glover was earlier this year confirmed to be the voice of Simba. German film score composer Hans is once again taking the musical reigns on the reimagined Lion King. Comedians Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will voice everyone's favorite meerkat and warthog duo, Timon and Pumbaa, respectively. It also shows that Disney has high predictions for the film's box office potential, which is completely understandable after The Jungle Book made over $966 million. JD McCrary will play the Young Simba and Shahadi Wright Joseph will play the Young Nala. While there's no formal release date yet, keep your calendar open for summer 2019.

The film is slated for release on June 19, 2019, and is being directed by Jon Favreau, who helmed The Jungle Book's live-action remake previous year.

"This is a story that belongs to everyone who grew up with the original film", said Favreau.
