Texans fear QB Deshaun Watson may have torn ACL

Texans fear QB Deshaun Watson may have torn ACL

Whether or not that's the case, though, remains to be seen in the coming days since this injury occurred.

Watson tore his ACL in practice Thursday, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

He started the first game of the season but was benched halfway through the game in favor of Watson. He suffered the injury on a non-contact play. The two-time Heisman Trophy finalist had already broken several National Football League rookie records and positioned Houston just one game out of the AFC South lead.

In 2017, Watson has completed 126 out of 204 passes for 1,699 yards with 19 passing touchdowns and 8 interceptions for a passer rating of 103.0.

With this knee injury to Watson, Tom Savage will now presumably step back into the starting role.

The Texans' offense was very bad in Week One with Tom Savage at the helm, but with Watson the offense has exploded, and the Texans lead the league in scoring since he's been their starter. Watching anyone go down with a season-ending injury is brutal, but watching Watson get sidelined really stings. It's unclear if the Texans will add another quarterback to the team.
