Pradyuman murder case: Gurugram court grants bail to bus conductor

With Ashok's release, there were reports which claimed that the bus conductor, in all likelihood, might file a defamation case against the police officers who tried to "frame" him.

The Gurgaon court, however, went ahead and granted Kumar bail.

Ashok's wife laid blame that the police injected Ashok as well.

The CBI also rejected the Gurgaon Police theory that Ashok killed Pradyuman after attempting to sexually abuse the boy, but stopped short of giving the Ryan school bus conductor a clean chit.

Speaking up after Ashok returned home from jail, his wife said the Gurgaon Police "hung him upside down, tortured him and even sedated him (in order to get him) to confess (to killing Pradyuman)". "We have made a decision to file a case against Gurugram Police Special Investigation Team officers who framed and used torture and even drugged him to confess before the media that he had committed the crime", Ashok's father Amirchand had said.

Ashok got bail days after the Central Bureau of Investigation apprehended a Class XI student of the same school alleging he murdered Pradyuman.

"We knew from the beginning that he wasn't involved in the murder".

Mr. Kumar, who was whisked away by his relatives in a vehicle soon after his release from the Bhondsi district jail here, reached his house in Ghamroj village around 7:30 p.m.

Before CBI took over the probe, the Haryana Police had claimed that Pradyuman was murdered by Ashok. The Gurgaon Police did not carry out a proper investigation. According to the police, Ashok was accused of slitting the throat of the student.

He was accompanied by his lawyer Mohit Verma and family members.

The case was later transferred to the CBI, which eventually found that a senior student of the school committed the crime in a bid to "postpone the examination and parent-teachers meet".
