Tottenham could welcome back Hugo Lloris from a groin injury but the side have been dealt a blow following the news that Toby Alderweireld won't return to action until after Christmas following his hamstring strain.

Pochettino, who hasn't been on the losing side in six meetings with Arsenal as Tottenham manager, accepted that history does count when assessing the relative merits of the sides.

Kane has been suffering with a knee injury recently sustained in Tottenham's 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace, which forced him to pull out of the England squad for the global break.

The 49-year-old will be assisted by Ian Hussin and Eddie Smart for the Emirates Stadium clash on November 18, with Kevin Friend the fourth official.

Alexandre Lacazette could be in line for a recall with Olivier Giroud set to miss out due to a minor injury.

Shkodran Mustafi and Danny Welbeck could return, having both been out since October, while Alex Iwobi will be checked after having to fly back from Russian Federation via Nigeria having starred for the Super Eagles in their win over Argentina.

Spurs have made an encouraging start to the season.

"How many of these Arsenal players could get in Tottenham's team?"

Should they trip up, there's no doubt questions will be raised over whether Pochettino and his men can go all the way on the main stage - after all, the Argentine remains trophy-less at Tottenham. They now sit third in the Premier League and are through to the last-16 of the Champions League.

It shouldn't be forgotten that it was Arsenal which ended last season with a trophy - the FA Cup - and Tottenham's critics argue that Mauricio Pochettino's team need to win silverware as a form of validation of its progress.

Lacazette became Arsenal's club-record signing in the summer after arriving from Lyon, and has started all but two Premier League games.

Olivier Giroud, who has scored once in 10 league appearances this season, netted in France's friendly win over Wales last Friday.

Both teams have scored on 34 occasions, more than any other fixture in the competition.
