Netflix cuts ties with Kevin Spacey as more accusations surface

Spacey's publicist cut ties with him on Thursday and it was not known who now represents him.

In a joint statement, Netflix and MRC said: "MRC and Netflix have chose to suspend production on House of Cards season six, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew".

A number of other alleged victims, including crew members on House of Cards, have since come forward with disturbing claims against the star, and production on the hit show was shut down before Spacey was sacked.

Producers of the Netflix show "House of Cards' are considering killing off Kevin Spacey's character in the wake of sexual assault allegations against the actor. MRC, in partnership with Netflix, will continue to evaluate a creative path forward for the program during the hiatus".

According to sources, Netflix has put "House of Cards" on hold to give writers more time to steer the final season of the show to a new direction that has less Frank and more Claire in it.

The Netflix statement also said the company will work with MRC to determine the show's future.

Spacey apologized to actor Anthony Rapp last week who accused Spacey of seducing him when he was only 14. They include a 48-year-old man who told NY magazine he had a sexual relationship with Spacey when he was 14 and Spacey was 24 and which ended after what he describes as an attempted rape.

Even though Spacey told a representative that he is seeking for treatment, in fact, his attitude is the problem that made Rapp to trigger the scandal.

The announcement that he would seek treatment followed harassment allegations against him this week by Mexican actor Roberto Cavazos, who worked in the London theater where Spacey was artistic director from 2004-2015, and United States filmmaker Tony Montana.

It said Spacey had "willingly participated in a training process" and that it was not aware of any complaints since then involving the actor.

For now, Netflix has not shared their plans for possible "House of Cards" spinoffs.
