Miami Dolphins trade Jay Ajayi to Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles traded for Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi on Tuesday before the National Football League trade deadline, reportedly in exchange for a fourth-round pick.

Ajayi led the Dolphins in carries against the Ravens. It was speculated that the Eagles would be aggressive as the trade deadline approaches, but no one expected them to trade for Ajayi. He has no touchdowns yet, but he's coming off a Pro Bowl season in which he scored 8, and he's also playing for a directionless Dolphins offense ... until now.

Roseman will address the media Tuesday at 1:30 the NovaCare Complex in Philadelphia, Pa.

Move over, NBA. The NFL trading frenzy is catching on. The addition of the stud running back gives the team a sense of stability to a position that has been up and down all year, and that stability could last for much longer than just this season. "I have been smiling ear to ear since the news broke", said Ike Reese, former Eagles linebacker and the drive-time host on SportsRadio WIP in Philadelphia. "It is a great deal for the Eagles now and for the future".

Ajayi, a 24-year-old fifth-round pick out of Boise State, has somewhat struggled this season with pass blocking and is averaging just 3.4 yards per carry.

In Davie, the Dolphins are not saying anything and they likely won't until Adam Gase meets with the press and then that topic may be nothing more than a few small blurbs. LeGarrette Blount is the team's leading rusher with 467 yards.
