Mesut Ozil will sign Arsenal contract extension on one freaky condition

The winter transfer window has become synonymous with underwhelming and regrettable life choices, but even if Jose does want to flash the cash, there must be some dead wood he would be willing to part with at this stage in his tenure...

Ozil moved to North London in the summer of 2013 and has since racked up one hundred and sixty-eight appearances in all competitions so far, scoring thirty-three goals while he has helped his side win the FA Cup in three of the past four seasons.

There has been a huge amount of speculation regarding Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, who is in a similar position.

That's where Rafinha comes into play, as it's claimed they believe he could be an ideal replacement for Ozil in terms of adding technical quality and creativity in a midfield role.

Mesut Ozil could pen a new deal at Arsenal if Arsene Wenger allows him to step into the No 10 jersey which is now filled by Jack Wilshere.

It is thought he wants to change from his current number 11 so that he can boost his brand.

Arsenal's number 10 shirt is now occupied by home-grown midfielder Jack Wilshere, but there is a very real possibility that it could become available in the summer. Ozil donned the 10 jersey at Real Madrid and still wears the number for Germany - as well as including it in his Instagram handle "m10_official".

Wilshere was handed the No.10 jersey after it was retired by Lukas Podolski.

Many Arsenal fans will not be amazingly keen to see Mesut Ozil stay at the club.

Arsenal's next game after the global break is the north London derby against Tottenham.
