Meek Mill Sentenced To 2-4 Years In Prison, Hip-Hop Reacts

A Philadelphia judge has sentenced Meek Mill 2-4 years in prison.

"The sentence handed down by the Judge - against the recommendation of the Assistant District Attorney and Probation Officer - is unjust and heavy handed", he wrote.

Meek Mill's lawyer say they'll appeal against the sentencing.

Meek, who was immediately taken into custody, will be eligible for state parole supervision after serving the first two years of his sentence.

Raised by his mother in Philadelphia after his father was killed, the rapper born as Robert Williams was put on probation after a 2005 arrest on drug and gun possession charges.

Tacopina told Business Insider that Brinkley showed a "personal stake" in the decision, and he recounted an odd scene that allegedly occurred between Mill, former girlfriend Nicki Minaj, and the judge inside the courtroom chambers in 2013 as an instance of Brinkley's "inappropriateness". According to Hov, who chronicled systemic injustice in his Kalief Browder documentary last winter, Meek's sentence is just another tragic symptom of a deeply flawed justice system.

He was arrested twice in 2017, including for a March fight in a St. Louis airport (the charges were later dropped in exchange for community service). "I'm here for you, man".

Additionally, Tacopina told TMZ that Brinkley has shown bias against his client, and previous year during a meeting in chambers she asked him to remake the Boyz II Men hit "On Bended Knee" and give her a shout-out. reports that Brinkley dealt with Mill with "exasperation". I don't even have the words now y'all.

Speaking out.Jay-Z posted a rare statement to his Facebook page on Monday, November 6, slamming Meek Mill's prison sentence.

"Saddened, angered, and disappointed", tweeted Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg.
